Two new Masks joined the Totem with the Halloween update! The first one is the Spectrum Mask, a guardian whose spell, the Warding Gaze, makes three spectral eyes bloom on the ground to watch over your team.

What Is a Mask?

Masks are Tamons: once you get one, it follows you, fights at your side and takes one of your 3 pet slots. It grows from Baby to Adult and Boss, and its spell grows with it. A Boss Mask can even be ridden with the Saddle.

Each Mask casts a powerful aura around itself, and the family now counts 7 Masks: Normal, Rock, Water, Plant, Ice, and the new Spectrum and Poison Masks.

How to Get a Mask

Masks don't live in the wild: they come from the clan Totem. When your clan owns the Totem of a server, its members can open the SPAWN A MASK PET panel next to it and spend their Golden Apples:

- Untamed spawns a sleeping wild baby next to the Totem, and you get one try to tame it.
- The Tamed buttons give you the Mask directly, if you have a free pet slot.
- Each purchase raises the price of its button by 3 Golden Apples, until a new Totem appears.
- You can't choose your Mask: it is drawn at random among the 7 Masks.

Tip: tame a Spectrum Mask from an Untamed spawn to complete its Tamodex challenge. It pays 50 Golden Apples, twice the usual reward!

The Warding Gaze

"Three spectral eyes bloom on the ground and watch over the allies inside: they take less damage from skills, are immune to every debuff and can't be targeted by enemy spells."

Who Is Protected?

The Mask itself, you, your teammates and all the Tamons of your team standing inside the circle. Careful: allies means your team in the game, not your whole clan. The eyes protect players and pets, not buildings.

Less Damage from Skills

Inside the Gaze, the damage of enemy skills is reduced by 25%, 40% or 55%, depending on the age of your Mask. Weapon hits are not reduced: the Gaze is made against spells.

Immune to Debuffs

Allies inside ignore the nasty effects of enemy spells:
- slows and knockbacks,
- attack and defense reductions,
- poison, burn, freeze, paralysis, stun, bleeding, blindness, petrification...
- max health reductions, even the curse of an enemy Totem,
- forced dismounts, sight reductions and the effects of enemy Trinkets.

Out of Sight

The homing spells that pick the nearest enemy simply skip your protected allies. Bad news for the Dragon Ball, the Blazing Breath or the Devil's Hand!

Timing

The eyes protect your team for about 7 seconds. While the Mask channels its spell, it stays rooted, and so does its rider.

Combine It with the Other Masks

The Warding Gaze stacks with the other defensive auras against skill damage: a Boss Ice Mask and a Boss Spectrum Mask together reduce the damage of skills by about 91%! Two Warding Gazes don't add up, though: only the strongest one applies.

The Gaze also cancels the slow of an enemy Water Mask, the zone of an enemy Plant Mask where nobody can attack or cast, and the curse of an enemy Totem.

Know Its Weaknesses

The Spectrum Mask is a Spectrum and Plant Tamon:
- Poison deals it triple damage.
- Fire, Ice and Fairy deal double damage.
- It resists Water, Plant, Electric, Normal, Combat and Spectrum.

Tactical Tips

- Cast it right before the enemy unleashes its spells, or when your team raids an enemy Totem.
- Keep your teammates inside the circle: it grows from a Baby to a Boss Mask.
- Pair it with an Ice Mask for an almost spell-proof fortress.
- Beware of the Sleep Darts: a darted Mask can't cast its spell!

Dungeon builders, the Spectrum Mask is now in the Tamons category of the Base Editor: "Three spooky eyes babysit your pets, enemy spells are not invited." In a dungeon, it protects the other monsters with its Gaze.
